G.hn is the common name for a home network technology family of standards developed under the International Telecommunication Union’s Standardization arm (ITU) and promoted by the HomeGrid Forum, and several other organizations. The G.hn specification defines networking over power lines, phone lines and coaxial cables with data rates up to 1 Gbit/s. It is a complementary counterpart to Wi-Fi. G.hn will enable a solution of single-device for any-wire for Home Networking.
The first-generation G.hn chipset from Xingtera is a home network controller based on the Xingtera patent-pending XT-DSPTM and XT-HardcoreMACTM architecture. Fully compliant to the ITU-T G.hn standard, the chipset supports all three media: coax, power line, and phone line. For coax, the device is capable to operate in either baseband or RF bands. The product supports ITU-T compliant 25MH, 50MHz and 100MHz bandplans. Xingtera chipset also supports 200MHz bandplan for up to 2 Gbps performance, twice the ITU-T performance goal.
Xingtera G.hn chipset can be used to build various home networking products: home gateways, set-top boxes (STB), home entertainment systems, network-attached storage devices (NAS), HDTVs, home security surveillance systems, digital signage, WLAN extenders, home healthcare systems, gaming consoles, desktop PCs, etc.
